What is Iyengar Yoga?

Iyengar Yoga teaches you to take your awareness into areas of the body and revitalize them. We use a specific method of sequencing the postures that balances the body and mind. To experience your best version of the pose and develop concentration, we focus on alignment and precision in action. We also use props to make postures accessible and ideal for different body types.

Laila Moos began attending Yoga classes in Toronto in 1997. It was an Iyengar studio that she happened upon. Even back then she had an inkling that this was ‘the yoga’ that was best for her, yet she was swept away with other things in life. It wasn’t until she moved to Calgary in 2007, with a very acute back injury that she regularly started attending Iyengar classes. Her past injuries and scoliosis have made her very adept of how to modify asanas for a variety of conditions. She believes that yoga creates more ‘space’ for the mind and body, to move throughout life with more ease, agility and strength. Laila studies under Sharoni Fixler and Cynthia Palahnuik. She has done numerous workshops with senior teachers such as Jawahar Bangera, Marlene Mawhinney and Ty Chandler. Laila completed the Yoga College of Canada Teacher Training in 2012, as well as the Iyengar Yoga Teacher Training with Margot Kitchen. She now holds her Introductory II certification completed through the Iyengar Association of Canada.
